Who Studies at the Lifespace Institute? Our counsellor training programs are geared toward people who are interested in learning skills for professional development. These skills are also pertinent to students' own personal healing and development. Students come from a wide variety of professional, academic and economic backgrounds yet are united by the sincere desire to help others and make a positive, lasting difference in their own lives. Everybody entering the program already has some experience in the field of counselling and human relations and wishes to upgrade or obtain more skills. Lifespace students include: - professional counsellors such as social workers, school guidance counsellors, psychiatrists, general practitioners, human resource managers, marriage therapists, lawyers and clergy wishing to broaden their repertoire and build a holistic approach
- health professionals such as naturopathic doctors, nurses, chiropractors and massage therapists wishing to complement their experience in health and wellness by gaining additional counselling skills
- business professionals such as managers, human resource coordinators, trainers and mediators wishing to add to their communication and human relations skills
- teachers wishing to enhance their facilitative skills and their relationships with students and fellow educators
- university or college graduates of a field related to counselling and human relations wishing to acquire additional practical skills to become more marketable in the workforce
An effective therapist possesses warmth, authenticity, caring and empathy. Anyone with these qualities, personal maturity, normal intelligence, relevant experience and a sincere desire to help people is an excellent candidate for admission.
