Admissions

Updated Sept. 5, 2010

There are spaces available for those wishing to join the Professional Counsellor Training Program.

You can book private sessions with Barbara Forest anytime:

  • Private counselling sessions for individuals and couples
  • Private tutorials and supervision in counselling skills

Starting Time: Usually, students start in the fall of any particular year. However, if you have enough pertinent counselling experience and training, it is possible to start at a later point. To start in the winter, you at least need some basic skills in inner process work (like Gendlin's Focusing) and empathic listening. It is not usually possible to start in the spring. Ask Barbara Forest to call you to discuss. Doing some catch-up training with Barbara privately is also a possibility.

Free Seminar & Program Orientation,

Friday October 1, 2010,   7-9 pm.

With Barbara Forest, Ph.D., Director and Course Instructor.

Held at O.I.S.E., 252 Bloor St. W. (St. George subway station), 8th floor, Room 8214.

Recommended for those already registered, and open to all wanting to learn more about the Program.

The evening will include:

  • The Ingredients That Make Therapy Effective: An introductory seminar on Life-Centred Transformational Counselling:
  • An outline of the program structure
  • An opportunity to ask questions

RSVP: Please let us know, at coordinator@lifespace.ca,  that you are coming to the Program Orientation (registering with name, phone numbers and email), plus the number of guests you are bringing.

Admission Procedure

1.  Inform us at coordinator@lifespace.ca, that you are interested in the program and ask any questions you might have. Please supply day and evening phone numbers, if you would like the Director, Barbara Forest, to call you to personally discuss your questions.

2.  Submit an application for admission: see the Online Application Form (side bar).

We accept a waiting list throughout the year.

(Please go through the Admission Procedure to be placed on the Waiting List.)

3.  The Director, Barbara Forest, will then call you to discuss your application and the program.  You can ask any further questions at this time.  We will explore your goals to ensure that the program is the right fit for you.

4.  The $100 application fee has been waived.

5.  Upon acceptance into the Program,  a non-refundable $250 deposit will hold your place and  confirm your registration.  (This deposit will be applied against the tuition fee for your first Core Course).

  • After your non-refundable deposit, you can arrange to pick up the course training manuals (there is a one-time $50 materials fee), and begin your study! You can also get a head start on learning the processes taught in the Program, by booking private sessions with Barbara. (See "Tuition" sidebar re Practica.)

Course Location:

Courses are held in the High Park area of central west Toronto, with access to TTC and parking.

Schedule Notes:

The schedule is part-time to fit with an active life.  Each semester (fall, winter and spring) presents a different concentrated set of powerful processes, designed for safe yet profound transformational inner work. Each semester builds on the previous one within a particular year (hence, fall is the best time to join), creating a rich set of ingredients that work together to enhance each other.  Core Courses consist of 5 full days per semester, Saturdays or Sundays, spread out), for a total of 15 days per year, plus ongoing practica (practice and consultations outside of class), for 2 years (a total of 6 Core Courses).  (Make-ups are also available.)  Certificates will be awarded for each year of program completion.

Full-time programs are also available.

FALL 2010 COURSE: # 601: Foundation Skills and Transformational Unfolding (TM): Core Process.

Schedule for fall course (#601): 5 Sundays Oct. 24/2010, Nov. 7 & 21, Dec. 5, and Jan. 9/2011.
